With today’s technology, digital photography has become accessible to everyone with a smartphone. With this convenience, we are use to seeing highly processed images with a more clinical look.
Analogue photography is a step in the opposite direction. Having a more organic feel to the image, akin to a still from a motion picture film, it can create a sense of retrospect. Each photograph is hand crafted, using techniques over a hundred years old, to create one of a kind prints, unique to each customer.
No copies. No sharing files. No digital footprint.
It exists on your wall, to be admired by those who stop, look and appreciate the artwork in it’s purist form.

The photographs are taken using mechanical cameras, that expose the images onto negative film. The film is then developed in complete darkness, through a series of chemical baths. After this the film will be hung to dry.
The film negative will then be placed onto light sensitive photographic paper, and exposed to light to create a colour positive for viewing. This is called a contact sheet, and is used to select and alter images for printing.
When an image has been selected for print, in the darkroom the negative will be placed into an enlarger and projected onto photographic paper. The paper will then be processed in temperature controlled chemical washes to reveal the image.
After the paper has fully dried, a mount board is hand cut to frame the photograph. Using all acid free materials, we can maintain the longevity of your images for a lifetime. The photograph is carefully placed within the mount and packaged for our client to enjoy.

The photo shoot will last between 60-90 minutes, depending on what the client has discussed beforehand. Each composition and shot is carefully carried out, deriving from a quality over quantity aspect. No images are seen on the day, creating a fluid workflow between the client and the photographer during the photo shoot.
You will have the opportunity of choosing between 15-20 images, from contact sheets of the photo shoot, on the day of the viewing.
-
After the photo shoot, a date will be scheduled at the client’s convenience, to meet again for a viewing of the contact sheet print. As the film negative has to be developed, dried and contact printed, a minimum of 4 working days must be allowed.
When the photos have been selected by the client for printing, it is an average of 7 working days for the photos to be printed and mounted, depending on the number of photos selected.

You don’t keep the negatives from the shoot but you do get to keep the contact sheets. The contact sheet is a series of positive colour images, that you can choose larger prints from.
